Been a long time since I blogged here so thought I would update people on what's happening around here.
Little bear has started a new school and is enjoying it, it feels really strange not doing the school run though.
Bear 2 is still looking for a job but she has been for an interview so hopefully fingers crossed.

Little bear enjoyed her school ball night just before they broke up from school she looked really lovely like a little princess.
Whats happening with me, well not much apart from my glasses broke and I can't find my spare pair of distance glasses, all I could find were my reading glasses, so am feeling seasick now when I walk about the house.

House all finished
The house is finally finished and it has been for a few weeks now but I haven't got round to posting any photo's until now see below.
Overall I think it went quite well it took them five weeks to complete it and they have made a good job. Unfortunately the paint in the kitchen keeps chipping off just little bits but its annoying the liaison officer suggested we bought a match pot of the same colour so that we can keep touching it up. They are starting work across the road now so when the painters come round again am going to ask them for a bit so I can touch it up.

Girl on the beach
A couple lived near the ocean and used to walk the beach a lot. One summer they noticed a girl who was at the beach almost every day. She wasn't unusual, nor was the travel bag she carried, except for one thing; she would approach people who were sitting on the beach, glance around and then speak to them.
Generally, the people would respond negatively and she would wander off. But occasionally someone would nod and there would be a quick exchange of
money and something that she carried in her bag.
The couple assumed that she was selling drugs and debated calling the cops, but since they didn't know for sure, they decided to just continue watching her.
After a couple of weeks the wife said, "Honey, have you ever noticed that she only goes up to people with boom boxes and other electronic devices?" He hadn't, and said so.
Then she said, "Tomorrow I want you to get a towel and our big radio and go lie out on the beach. Then we can find out what she's really doing."
Well, the plan went off without a hitch and the wife was almost hopping up and down with anticipation when she saw the girl talk to her husband and then leave. The man then walked up the beach and met his wife at the road.
"Well, is she selling drugs?" she asked excitedly. "No, she's not," he said, enjoying this probably more than he should have.
"Well, what is it then? What does she do ?" his wife fairly shrieked.
The man grinned and said, "She's a battery salesperson."
"Batteries?" cried the wife.
"Yes!" he replied.

Oh all right I pinched it from TPR forum courtesy of lonely but I thought it was so good!

Week four
Day 12
The decorator arrived as promised and did all the decorating, the wall tiler arrived and put some more tiles on the bathroom. Looking good now
Day 13
The floorer arrived and fitted the floor in the kitchen and bathroom
All we need now is the finisher to do the little touches, bath panel, shower curtain, unit door etc and then it will be finished.

The joiner arrived and fitted the rest of the units and doors all except one which he didn't have
Day 9
The electrician arrived and put all the front on the sockets, fitted the plinth heater and fitted the shower, the plinth heater is really nice it chucks out some right heat
Day 10
The plumber arrived and plumbed in the shower, its got a lot of pressure on it.
Day 11
The decorator arrived and did some filling in and undercoating for next week
apologies for not getting separate photo's but I went away at the end of this week so didn't get chance, but that's another story lol

Week two
Apologies for not doing separate days but the joiner still hasn't finished and I was hoping to show people the finished product.
Day 5 week two
Joiner Day
The joiner arrived late because he was delayed from the day before at another house. Give the lad his due he worked like a trouper and most of the kitchen was finished apart from one unit to go on the wall and the gas cupboard. He said he would get the rest done tomorrow.
Day 6 week 2
Plumber Day
The plumber arrived and put in the rest of the bathroom suite and re fitted the towel radiator, which immediately caused a leak, but he was able to fix it quite quickly so that was good.
The joiner arrived again and changed one of the units because the cooker gap wasn't quite wide enough for regulation. and did the gas cupboard. Unfortunately he used my wall unit so that meant I was a unit short.
Day 7 week 3
The wall tiler arrived and did the tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, the joiner turned up with the unit and said he would be back to fit it when the wall tiler had finished.
The joiner didn't come back so it looks like he didn't get chance will have to remind them on Monday but as you can see its all coming along nicely.
So at the moment we are one cupboard and two doors short.

Day Four
Plastering Day.
The kitchen and Bathroom look like rooms now they made a fantastic job. It was messy though but they did clear it up. Due to the nature of plaster dust I still ended up moping all the way through the house but still the end result worth it. We are due to get the new kitchen units on Wednesday.

Decent homes standard Day 3
Electricians Day
The electrician was very nice and he fitted me a socket in the hallway so that I can now get a cordless phone which is cool.
The worst thing about electrician day was that the temporary sink see previous photo collapsed when I put my pots on it last night, and I only just managed to catch them in time. They have promised to get me a new one for today so we will see.

Decent Homes Standard Day 2
Plumbing Day
The worst thing about plumbing day was having no water for about six hours but the guy did tell us he was turning it off so I could fill up the kettle first.
I forgot to say yesterday all the guys working on the house have been very nice and considerate, and they have a sense of humour too which is nice.
All we have in the bathroom at the moment is a new bath fortunately we have a downstairs loo so that's ok, and all that's in the kitchen is a temporary sink balanced on some ladders as you can see but the plumber says someone will sort it out tomorrow and not to put too much weight on it lol.

Well the demo guys arrived as promissed and oh my word did they go to town both kitchen and bathroom knocked back to the brick and the kitchen ceiling knocked down as well the noise was unbelievable but the dust wasn't as bad as I had feared largely because hubby kept the kitchen and living room shut and wedged open both back and front doors see photo's lol.

Watch this space
The council or due to modernise our house as part of the decent home standard, they are using a company called Keepmoat to do it, so I thought I might do a blog on the subject with photo's. They are starting on Thursday. So far everything seems to be going according to plan and people have turned up when they said they would, so like I say watch this space . We are having a new kitchen and bathroom so it should be nice when its done.

Back to school
Well it was back to school today after the Easter break for youngest bear and oldest bear started a new job. So I started the process of finding the floors as my friend calls it, generally tidying up the house that looks like a bomb hit it I call it lol. Feeling tired now but at least the house looks a bit better still a way to go though, will probably do some more tomorrow.

ice skating
for little bear's birthday we went ice skating I hadn't been for about eleven years but its like riding a bike you never forget and by the end of the session I was skating round and even going backwards. Ask for little bear she was a complete natural she had never been before but she took to the ice and skated round while I was still getting my ice legs lol.

Lincoln Castle and Cathedral
Today we have been to Lincoln which is famous for its Gothic Cathedral and Medieval Castle. We had a good time though a very tiring time climbing up what seemed about hundreds of steps lol, but the views from the top were spectacular here are some photo's.
This is the view from one of the castle's walls of the crown court building which is still a working crown court, so we couldn't go inside.
This is the prison chapel you can stand in the pulpit and look at models of the prisoners, you can also go into the pews which I did I found it highly claustrophobic lol.

Corned Beef Ash
Today I have made corned beef ash which has I explained to bear 2 is a relatively cheap meal which you can make if you a bit skint and if you not skint its still nice anyway. The kids love it and its a way of getting lots of veg into them and they don't really notice so its win win, only thing is its a bit fatty for hubby so he can't have any shame.
Sometimes its the simplest recipes that are the nicest.

Line dancing
As some of my readers might know I started going to line dancing about a year ago, I went primarily because I thought it would be a laugh and because I like dancing and also because I had this image in my head of just standing in a line and not moving very much, it just shows you how wrong you can be. After about six months of learning the easy ones, the class has graduated to learning the intermediate dances which are sixty four count/step dances oh and did I mention that they are done to notoriously fast music like scissor sisters I don't feel like dancing.
So if you are looking for some exercise and like dancing I would highly recommend it its not just for old timers its very energetic.

I will try at some point to post a video of us doing this dance but I haven't got one at the moment. Apologies for music quality on this video but its the best video I can find for showing you the moves of the dance.

New year blogalusion
I am resolving to blog here more often even if I think that its boring, I guess I should let the reader decide.
I was thinking today what is it about kids that means they have to learn things the hard way, I mean you can tell them things till you blue in the face and they won't listen until either something happens or they have this revelation after doing things the hard way for ages. But I guess some adults or still like that too they have to learn the hard way and they don't listen to good advice, I have know quite a few of those in the past, guess I was one myself once when I was younger.

Well Christmas has gone for another year, it was good, kids got lots of presents under the tree, and we had a good time, new year was Ok we had a lovely free fireworks display due to living on a hill lol.
Little bear has caught a bug so she's not very well at the moment, hope she's Ok for school next week, and for a treat we've promised her for tomorrow but we'll see how it goes.
